🔥 Oxy-Fuel Cutting Tip Size & Gas Pressure Calculator
Victor-style acetylene tip numbers, oxygen/fuel PSIG, and travel speed for mild steel
Estimate cutting tip size, oxygen cutting pressure, fuel gas pressure, and approximate travel speed from plate thickness and fuel type. Acetylene uses Victor-style one-piece tip numbering (000, 00, 0, 1, 2…). Harris, ESAB, and other brands use different tip codes — verify against your torch manufacturer chart.
For plasma parameters on the same thickness, see the Plasma Cutting Calculator. Process choice: Oxy-Fuel vs Plasma Cutting.

One verified affiliate match for hose delivery. Cutting tips and oxy/fuel regulators are a catalog gap — we do not substitute unrelated TIG kits, argon regulators, or plasma cutters.

How Oxy-Fuel Tip Sizing Works
Oxy-fuel cutting preheats mild steel with fuel gas and oxygen until the metal reaches kindling temperature, then a high-velocity oxygen jet oxidizes the iron and blows molten oxide from the kerf. Tip size controls preheat flame volume and oxygen orifice capacity — too small and you cannot maintain the cut; too large wastes gas and widens the HAZ.
