How to Use This ESP Calculator

Measure supply-plenum static and return-plenum static with a dual-port manometer, doors on, filter in, blower on the speed you are diagnosing. Enter both readings — signs do not matter; the tool adds the absolute values:

TESP = |Supply static| + |Return static|

Then enter the rated ESP from the rating plate. The result is total external static, the difference vs rated, over/under status, and a plain-language note on what high or low ESP does to airflow and equipment wear. This tool does not size duct. If TESP is high because the duct is too small, size the run there after you confirm the restriction.
