How to read this chart

Left number is water-supply fixture units, Total column, private occupancy, IPC 2021 Table E103.3(2), checked against Colorado / Connecticut IPC 2021 on UpCodes. Right number is drainage fixture units, IPC 2021 Table 709.1, checked against published Chapter 7 copies (Maryland / Michigan IPC-based plumbing codes on UpCodes). A blank-looking 0 WSFU on a floor drain is not a missing cell. Floor drains do not load the incoming pipe. A 0 DFU on a hose bibb is the same idea in reverse.

Public occupancy, flushometer valves, 15 lb commercial washers, and urinals are omitted on purpose. Those rows exist in the same tables. Putting them on a dwelling is how a 2.2-WSFU toilet becomes a 10. Use the code book for public work. This chart is the residential private list the calculator ships.

Bathroom group is not a fifth fixture in the room. It is a substitute for the WC, lav, and tub or shower when they match IPC Section 202. If you add the group row and the piece rows, you have not been conservative. You have double-counted. The group WSFU is 3.6; the pieces sum to 4.3. The group DFU is 5; the pieces sum to 6. Both pairs are real published values. They are two methods, not a menu you stack.

Hose bibb WSFU 2.5 is UPC 2021 Table 610.3 (first bibb; each additional 1.0 per note 8). IPC Appendix E E103.3 Step 2.1 assigns hose bibbs gpm, not fixture units. Kitchen sink DFU 2 already covers a dishwasher on the same drain (709.1 combined row). Shower DFU 2 is the ≤ 5.7 gpm row; higher flow packs use 3, 5, or 6.

Why a chart page exists

The calculator is a quantity tool. Inspectors and estimators still want a row they can point at without spinning inputs. E103.3(2) and 709.1 are long, split across chapters, and easy to grab the public column from. This page puts the private residential intersection in one table, cites the edition, and refuses to invent a hose-bibb cell in the IPC column. If your city adopted UPC, take hose bibbs from 610.3 and DFU from UPC Table 702.1 (a clothes washer is 3 DFU there, not 2). This chart does not pretend those books are the same.
