This tool calculates tax on the post-discount subtotal. If your state or city taxes the pre-discount amount, the PDF total may differ from what your accountant expects. Adjust the tax rate manually or add a line-item note — the builder does not know your local rule automatically.
Missing Required Fields Block PDF Export
PDF export requires shop / company name, quote number, and at least one line item with description, positive quantity, and positive unit price. CSV and JSON export do not enforce the same validation. Read the red status message for the exact missing fields.
Save / Load Errors
Load fails with “Could not read that file” when the JSON is not a Weld Quote Builder export. Valid files include shop, quote, client, and items arrays. Re-save from a working session or fix corrupted JSON.
Flat Discount Capped at Subtotal
A flat-dollar discount cannot exceed the line-item subtotal — the tool caps it so the base never goes negative. If you need a credit larger than the subtotal, split it across line items or add a negative-priced line (not supported — use a smaller discount instead).
