Weld Quote Builder Guide — Shop Info, Line Items & Export

Shop/client blocks, categories, discount-before-tax, terms, and signature

Walk through the Weld Quote Builder: shop and client information, line item categories, discount-before-tax totals, terms and notes, and why you should cost the job with the Weld Cost Calculator first.

Start with shop info, then line items

Fill shop and client blocks, add categorized line items, then export PDF or save JSON if you need more than one session.

Shop & Client Information

Shop / company name (required) prints as the bold PDF header — logo upload is omitted to keep everything client-side. Add phone, email, address, and an optional license or tagline (e.g., AWS D1.1 Certified). On the client side, capture name, company, address, phone, and email for the “Prepared for” block.

Quote Header & Line Items

Quote number (required) and dates identify the estimate. Use Valid until to match your terms. Line items support description, category (Material, Labor, Supplies, Equipment, Other), quantity, unit (ea, hr, ft), and unit price. At least one line with description, positive qty, and positive price is required before PDF export.

Discount-Before-Tax Order

Subtotal sums all line totals. Discount applies first — percentage of subtotal or flat dollars capped at subtotal (never negative). Tax rate applies to the post-discount base. Grand total = base + tax. The on-screen tax note reminds you that some jurisdictions tax the pre-discount amount instead.

Terms, Notes & Signature Line

Use the terms textarea for deposit rules, validity, material escalation clauses, and payment terms. The exported PDF includes a terms block and an “Accepted by” signature line with date — not a checkmark glyph, so it prints reliably.

Cost the Job First

Before building the client document, work out labor, consumables, and overhead with the Weld Cost Calculator. Bring those unit costs and labor hours into line items here. The builder formats what you send the customer; the cost calculator estimates what the job costs you.

Reminder: Export PDF/CSV/JSON for your records. Verify tax rules for your jurisdiction before sending.
