Buyft-lb · Nm · in-lb — dense shop reference tables
Convert between foot-pounds, Newton-meters, and inch-pounds without a calculator. Built for fastener torque specs, tap torque notes, and dual-scale wrenches.
Torque specs show up in foot-pounds (ft-lb), Newton-meters (Nm), and inch-pounds (in-lb). Use these factors, or look up values directly in the tables below.
For grade- and size-specific fastener torque, use the Bolt Torque Calculator. For tapping, see the Tap Torque Calculator.
Common shop torque values starting from foot-pounds. Read across for Newton-meters and inch-pounds.

Values rounded for shop use. For critical joints, use a calibrated wrench and manufacturer torque specs — not unit conversion alone.
ft-lb to Nm: multiply by 1.36 (close enough for most fab work). Nm to ft-lb: multiply by 0.74. ft-lb to in-lb: multiply by 12. Small fasteners (electronics, sensors, thin sheet hardware) are almost always specified in in-lb — do not apply a 50 ft-lb wrench to a 50 in-lb spec.
