BuySimple 2-piece pipe miter — printable flat pattern
A discoverability entry for shops searching “pipe miter calculator” or “pipe miter template.” The pattern comes from the same Cone / Transition Flat-Pattern Generator used for multi-piece lobster-back elbows — opened here in Lobster-Back mode with segment count set to 2.
A simple pipe miter joint is two equal pipe ends cut on the same angle and butted so they form a turn — most often a 90° elbow from two 45° miters. In layout terms that cut angle is the miter half-angle: for a total turn A and n equal gores, φ = A / (2n). With n = 2 on a 90° turn, φ is 45°, which is exactly the familiar two-piece shop miter. You unroll each gore as a cylinder wrap with a sinusoidal cut line (throat short, heel long), print at 100%, wrap, mark, and cut.
That geometry is already built into Lobster-Back Elbow mode on the Cone / Transition Flat-Pattern Generator. Multi-piece elbows just raise the segment count; a simple miter is the same math with segments = 2. This page does not invent a second calculator — it preloads that proven mode so “pipe miter template” searches land on the right starting point without hunting through cone or frustum wording.
Opens Lobster-Back mode with 2 segments pre-filled. Enter diameter, turn angle (default 90°), and centerline radius, then download the full-scale PDF. Print at 100% / Actual Size and verify the reference square before cutting. Add your own seam or weld allowance after printing.
Open Simple Pipe Miter Template → Need a multi-piece elbow instead? →If you need three or more gores for a smoother lobster-back elbow, open the full Cone / Transition Flat-Pattern Generator and raise Segments in Lobster-Back mode (or start from Full Cone / Frustum when you need those developments). Usage notes live in the Cone / Transition Flat-Pattern Guide.
